We are proud to announce that Mrs. Smith will be stepping into the role of PreK-12 Principal starting the 2026-2027 school year!
Mrs. Smith is a familiar face around our halls, having dedicated the last two years as the elementary principal and before that she spent nine years as an elementary teacher in South Heart. She has had numerous roles as an educator, mentor, advisor, and coach for athletics and Future City. Her deep roots in our school culture and her commitment to our "Eagle Pride" make her the perfect leader to guide our students and staff toward continued excellence.

Award-Winning Educator: Recipient of the Frontline Innovation Award from Governor Doug Burgum, awarded the Certificate of Merit award through Valley City State University as well as a featured teacher on KFYR-TV.
Lifelong Learner: Holds a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education from VCSU, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from VCSU and a second Master’s in Educational Leadership from UND.
Strategic Vision: Mrs. Smith has been an integral part of our school improvement and strategic planning.
Mrs. Smith’s passion for building a positive, safe, and welcoming environment is second to none. She is dedicated to fostering growth not just in our students, but in our hardworking teachers and paraprofessionals as well.

Welcome to the team, LaRae Reisenauer! 🦅
South Heart School is thrilled to announce Mrs. Reisenauer as our new Assistant Principal. Many of you already know her as a dedicated 5th grade teacher, volleyball and basketball coach as well as a summer school math tutor. We are excited to see her bring that same passion and leadership to her new role!
Mrs. Reisenauer is a Dickinson State University graduate with a background that spans from the small business ownership to the classroom. Her journey from managing business operations to teaching right here at South Heart makes her a perfect fit to help lead our school toward continued success.
